The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) started on September 29, 2004, as the “Emirates Identity Authority” under Federal Law No. (2) for the year 2004. Its main job was to set up the “Population Register and Emirates Identity Card Program”. This program collected personal information from everyone in the country and stored it electronically. It also issued the Emirates ID Card to each person. This card has a unique ID number and stores data on a chip. It can be used in all places.
